Fycompa 6 mg is a higher strength of perampanel, an antiepileptic that acts as a selective, non-competitive antagonist of AMPA receptors to decrease excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. It is indicated as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures (with or without secondary generalization) and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. The 6 mg dosage is often used after titrating from lower doses to achieve better seizure control when 4 mg is insufficient.

The dosing regimen typically begins with 2 mg at bedtime, with increments of 2 mg per week based on tolerance and seizure control. Once patients have reached 4 mg without adverse effects, the dose may be increased to 6 mg per day and up to a maximum of 12 mg, as prescribed. Take Fycompa at the same time each day, preferably at night due to the risk of dizziness or drowsiness. The tablet can be taken with or without food. Do not stop or change the dose abruptly; a slow taper is recommended to reduce the risk of increased seizure frequency.

Common side effects of perampanel include dizziness, sleepiness, fatigue, irritability, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, loss of coordination, and falls. More serious adverse effects can include mood or behavioural changes such as aggression, anger, hostility, anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations or suicidal thoughts. Some patients may experience changes in gait or balance. Use caution when performing activities that require alertness, like driving or operating machinery, especially during the titration phase. Patients with hepatic impairment or those taking strong CYP3A inducers may require dose adjustments. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should discuss potential risks and benefits with their doctor before starting therapy. For more detailed information or to obtain this medication, visit: Fycompa 6 Mg.
