Duzela 20 mg Capsule DR contains a lower dose of duloxetine in a delayed-release formulation. Duloxetine, a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), is used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, diabetic neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic musculoskeletal pain. The 20 mg strength is typically used when initiating therapy, for dose titration or for patients who require a lower dose due to age, medical conditions or sensitivity to side effects. As with other delayed-release capsules, the drug is protected from stomach acid and released in the intestine for improved tolerance.

Take Duzela 20 mg once daily, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush, chew or open it, as this could release the drug too quickly. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose to 40 mg, 60 mg or higher depending on your condition and response. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or discontinue abruptly without medical advice. It may take several weeks to experience the full benefits.

Common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, constipation, decreased appetite, dizziness, fatigue and increased sweating. These are usually transient and often resolve within a few weeks. More serious adverse effects may include elevated blood pressure, increased heart rate, hepatotoxicity, hyponatremia, urinary retention, orthostatic hypotension, serotonin syndrome and mood changes such as suicidal thoughts, particularly during the initial months of therapy or when adjusting the dose. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience jaundice, upper abdominal pain, dark urine, severe agitation, confusion, fever, muscle rigidity, tremors or rash. Patients with liver or severe kidney impairment, glaucoma, seizures or bipolar disorder should discuss risks with their doctor before starting duloxetine.

Do not take Duzela 20 mg if you have used a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks, and allow at least five days after stopping duloxetine before starting an MAOI. Be cautious when combining with other serotonergic drugs, anticoagulants or NSAIDs due to increased risk of bleeding or serotonin syndrome. Avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol while taking duloxetine. Always consult your healthcare provider before making any changes to your medication. For more details, visit Duzela 20mg Capsule DR.
