Duzela Capsule DR is a delayed-release formulation of duloxetine, a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) prescribed for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic musculoskeletal pain. By increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the central nervous system, duloxetine enhances mood, reduces anxiety and modulates pain signaling pathways. The delayed-release coating protects the drug from stomach acid and ensures absorption in the intestines, improving tolerability.

Duzela capsules should be swallowed whole with water; do not crush, chew or open the capsule, as this may prematurely release the drug and cause irritation. The typical starting dose for depression is 30 mg once daily, increased to 60 mg as tolerated. For neuropathic pain or fibromyalgia, 60 mg daily is common; some patients may require 120 mg per day in divided doses. Dosing is individualized based on condition, response and tolerability. It may take two to four weeks to experience the full benefits. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is close to the next dose—do not double up.

Common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, fatigue, constipation, decreased appetite, sweating, dizziness and insomnia. These often diminish with continued treatment. Serious side effects may include liver toxicity, increased blood pressure, urinary retention, low sodium levels, serotonin syndrome and suicidal thoughts, particularly in young adults. Contact a healthcare professional immediately if you experience jaundice, severe abdominal pain, dark urine, confusion, agitation, hallucinations, high fever or rash. Duzela should not be taken with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within five days of discontinuing an MAOI. Use caution when combining with other serotonergic medications, anticoagulants, NSAIDs or alcohol, as these increase the risk of bleeding or serotonin syndrome. Patients with liver or severe kidney impairment, glaucoma or a history of seizures or bipolar disorder should discuss risks and benefits with their physician.

Duloxetine may cause drowsiness or dizziness; avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Do not abruptly discontinue Duzela, as withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headache and irritability may occur; your doctor will guide a gradual taper. With proper medical supervision, Duzela can provide effective relief from depression, anxiety and neuropathic pain while improving overall quality of life. Learn more at Duzela Capsule DR.
